Lahore: Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdul Kareem on Friday met Punjab Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) Managing Director Sahibzadi Wasimah Umar at the Central Police Office and discussed the Punjab government’s e-procurement system, PPRA Rules and measures to further improve transparency and efficiency in the procurement process.
A Punjab Police spokesperson said a special training session on the PPRA Rules and the e-procurement system was also organised for Punjab Police officers and officials.
Speaking on the occasion, the IGP said the online e-procurement system would ensure transparency in government procurement in accordance with the rules and regulations while significantly reducing time and costs. He said the adoption of modern technology would further improve the department’s performance and governance.
The IGP appreciated the initiative of organising a dedicated training session for Punjab Police officers on the e-procurement system.
During the session, Sahibzadi Wasimah briefed the participants on the features, operational procedures and legal framework of the e-procurement system. She said the Punjab government’s e-procurement initiative had shifted the procurement process of all government departments to an online platform, enabling institutions to complete procurement in accordance with prescribed rules.
She said all procurement stages, including bidding, evaluation and order placement, were now conducted online, adding that similar modern procurement systems were being successfully used in developed countries.
The PPRA managing director said the online system would help government departments procure quality goods at competitive prices while strengthening transparency and accountability. She also answered participants’ queries regarding various features and procedures of the e-procurement system during the interactive training session.
The training session was attended by DIG Logistics and Procurement Shariq Kamal Siddiqui, DIG Technical Procurement Sahibzada Bilal Umar, AIG Logistics Faisal Shahzad, AIG Procurement Rizwan Umar Gondal and other senior police officers.
