Seven killed, 1, 661 injured in 1, 454 road accidents across Punjab


Lahore: At least seven people were killed and 1, 661 others injured in 1, 454 road traffic crashes reported across Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to the Emergency Services Department (Rescue 1122).



A spokesperson said on Friday that 727 critically injured victims were shifted to various hospitals, while 934 people with minor injuries were provided first aid at the accident sites by Rescue Medical Teams, helping reduce the burden on hospitals.



According to Rescue 1122 data, the victims included 983 drivers, 61 underage drivers, 161 pedestrians and 524 passengers.



Lahore recorded the highest number of accidents, with 289 crashes affecting 342 people, followed by Multan with 89 accidents and 98 victims, and Gujranwala with 85 accidents involving 93 victims.



Rescue 1122 said 1, 571 motorcycles, 103 auto-rickshaws, 145 cars, 36 vans, nine passenger buses, 48 trucks and 71 other vehicles, including slow-moving carts, were involved in the road accidents.
