Lahore: Punjab Inspector General of Police Abdul Karim on Monday took strict notice of a video showing a station house officer (SHO) allegedly assaulting a woman street vendor with a shoe in Kamalia, Toba Tek Singh. On the IGP’s orders, a case was registered against Sub-Inspector Imran Ghafur on the complaint of SDPO Kamalia Circle, and the accused was arrested, Punjab Police spokesperson said. The spokesperson said the officer, who was serving as SHO of Saddar Kamalia Police Station, had allegedly assaulted the woman vendor with a shoe in the presence of members of the public in the Mill Fatyana area on a complaint received through Police Emergency Helpline 15. The spokesperson said the sub-inspector had already been suspended and departmental proceedings were also underway against him over his inappropriate conduct with the woman.
