Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday disposed of a petition filed by MNA Sher Afzal Marwat seeking details of cases registered against him after receiving reports from the Islamabad Police, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
Justice Shahrukh Arjumand heard the petition. Sher Afzal Marwat appeared before the court along with his counsel Barrister Adil Aziz Qazi.
DSP Legal Sajid Cheema informed the court that no new case had been registered against Sher Afzal Marwat by the Islamabad Police. He said two cases against him were registered in 2023 and 15 cases in 2024.
FIA officials told the court that no new case or inquiry was pending against the petitioner with the agency.
NCCIA officials also informed the court that the agency did not require Sher Afzal Marwat’s arrest.
Sher Afzal Marwat told the court that one of his associates had been arrested and was allegedly being pressured to become an approver against him.
He further alleged that the NCCIA had taken steps to prevent him from continuing his legal practice.
Justice Shahrukh Arjumand observed that Marwat could continue practising law and that no one could stop him from appearing as a lawyer.
After receiving reports from the concerned agencies regarding the cases and inquiries, the court disposed of the petition.
