Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Town Planning Wing has intensified its crackdown against illegal commercial buildings and properties defaulting on commercial fees, demolishing two illegal structures and sealing 101 properties during operations in various areas of the provincial capital.
The operation was carried out on the directions of LDA Director General Tahir Farooq, who said that indiscriminate action against illegal commercial buildings and commercial fee defaulters would continue.
LDA teams conducted operations in Gajjumatta, Attari Saroba, Gulberg, Faisal Town, Canal Road, Samanabad, GT Road and Allama Iqbal Town.
The teams demolished an under-construction illegal building near the Gajjumatta Metrobus Station and another illegal construction near Central Park Housing Scheme Phase-II.
In Attari Saroba, properties were sealed over illegal commercial use, while 28 properties in Gulberg and Faisal Town were sealed for violating commercial-use regulations.
Another 60 properties along Canal Road, Samanabad and GT Road were sealed over illegal commercial use and non-payment of commercial fees. During a recovery operation, 12 properties in Allama Iqbal Town were also sealed.
The sealed properties included private schools, clinics, beauty salons, cafes, restaurants, food points, grocery stores, hardware stores, pharmacies, shops, showrooms and offices.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Chief Town Planner Asad-uz-Zaman and Chief Town Planner-II Azhar Ali.
