Peshawar: Like other parts of the country, the 80th Independence Day was celebrated across Khyber Paktunkhwa with traditional zeal and enthusiasm. Functions and events were held all over the province to mark the day and to highlight sacrifices of Muslims for creation of separate homeland in subcontinent.
Functions and events were held in all government offices in connection with independence day celebrations.
A impressive ceremony was held in Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines Peshawar that was attended by Inspector General Police KP, Zulfiqar Hameed, Capital City Police Officer, Dr. Mian Saeed and high raking police officials.
Tribute was paid to martyrs and commitment was reiterated to work for country’s progress and prosperity. Flags were hoisted on all police stations to mark the day.
A impressive flag hoisting ceremony was held at office of Commissioner Peshawar Division that was attended by Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mehsud. Secretary Regional Transport Authority Qaiser Khan along with officers and staff of the commissioner’s office, attended the event.
Participants expressed their commitment to national unity, patriotism and the preservation of Pakistan’s independence. Special prayers were offered for the security, sovereignty, peace, stability and progress of the country.
A dignified flag-hoisting ceremony was held at the Corps Headquarters in Peshawar on the occasion of Independence Day wherein Corps Commander hoisted the national flag. The national anthem was played followed by a special prayer for the security, progress, and prosperity of the country.
On the occasion, the Corps Commander Peshawar addressed the officers and soldiers and highlighted the significance of Independence Day.
Chief Justice Peshawar High Court, Justice S.M. Attique Shah hoisted national flag on court premises and extended warmest felicitation to legal fraternity and people on independence day.
The ceremony was attended by judges of High Court, former judges, Principal Staff Officers, representatives of KP Bar Council, Peshawar High Court Bar Association and District Bar Association.
A smartly turned out police contingent presented guard of honor while police band played the National Anthem.
The Chief Justice emphasized that the true meaning of independence lies in an impartial, accessible and progressive justice system that protects the fundamental rights of every citizen. He reaffirmed the Peshawar High Court’s commitment to moving beyond traditional paradigms by embracing technology and innovation for speedy and transparent justice.
A dignified Independence Day’s cake cutting ceremony was held at the provincial secretariat of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) that was chaired by Federal Minister and PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Engineer Amir Muqam here Friday.
Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) and PML-N Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Women’s Wing President Ms. Sobia Shahid attended the ceremony. On the occasion, an Independence Day cake was cut followed by special prayers for the country’s security, stability, development, and prosperity.
The 80th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated at Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), Medical Teaching Institution (MTI) Peshawar with great enthusiasm and patriotic zeal. The ceremony began with recitation from the Holy Quran followed by Hamd and Naat. The national anthem and patriotic songs were also presented on the occasion.
Christina community of provincial metropolis also arranged a ceremony in historic All Saints Church Kohati to to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day.
National flag was hoisted and cake cutting event was held to celebrate the independence day.
Bishop of Peshawar Alwin John Samuel and Kohati Church Priest Shahzad Murad led special prayers for the security, stability, prosperity and progress of Pakistan.
Chairman of Minority Parliamentary Committee and Member Provincial Assembly Askar Parvez, Peshawar SP City Adnan Shahid and SHO Muhammad Bilal also attended the ceremony.
A event in connection with Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day was held in GHS Booni Chitral that was attended by teachers, students and community members in Upper Chitral. The event was jointly organized by HUJRA Village Support Organization (HUJRA VSO) and Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) in collaboration with the District Administration Upper Chitral and District Education Office Upper Chitral.
Independence day was also celebrated with zeal in Kohat Division. The main function of the day was held at District Council Hall in Kohat and attended by KP Information Minister Shafi Jan, Law Minister Aftab Alam,Kohat Commissioner Syed Moatasim Billah Shah, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Wazir, government officials, religious scholars, minority representatives, students and civil society members.
Speakers highlighted sacrifices made during the struggle for independence and reaffirm a collective commitment to Pakistan’s stability and prosperity. They urged citizens to play role for country’s development and progress.
Similar events including flag-hoisting ceremonies, rallies, tree plantations, sports and cultural programs were held at district and tehsil levels across Karak, Hangu, Orakzai and Kurram districts.
