Sialkot: The central Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony was held at Sialkot Fort on Friday, with Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Muhammad Manshaullah Butt as the chief guest.
Deputy Commissioner Sialkot Awais Mushtaq, Station Commander Brigadier Waqar Khan, District Police Officer Dost Muhammad, MPAs Chaudhry Faisal Ikram and Shakeela Arthur, Khawaja Sultan, and representatives of the Sikh, Christian and Hindu communities attended the ceremony.
According to a DC Office spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Awais Mushtaq said Pakistan was their country, identity and future. He said the entire nation was working with new spirit and determination for the development of the country.
He said the nation was celebrating Independence Day with new enthusiasm and renewed resolve for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
The ceremony started with the national flag being hoisted at 9:00 a.m., followed by the national anthem. Contingents of Punjab Police, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence and Scouts presented a salute.
Students presented national songs and tableaus, while patriotic songs continued to echo at the venue. A large number of citizens and officials attended the ceremony.
