Insulting remarks against Ghazi Ajab Khan Afridi tribe unacceptable: Malik Saeed

District

Peshawar: Tribal leader Malik Saeed Afridi on Wednesday condemned the alleged use of derogatory language on social media against Ghazi Ajab Khan Afridi, the Afridi tribe and the wider tribal community, calling for a transparent inquiry and legal action against those found responsible.

In a statement issued here, he said the alleged remarks went beyond an individual matter and had touched upon the dignity and sentiments of the Afridi tribe and the broader tribal community.

Malik Saeed Afridi urged the authorities to take notice of the alleged offensive content, identify the person responsible and proceed in accordance with the law if the allegations were established.

He said social media had become an important platform for expressing views, but freedom of expression also carried the responsibility to respect the dignity of others. Differences of opinion and criticism, he added, should remain within the bounds of decency.

He cautioned that remarks targeting an entire tribe or community could create resentment and disturb social harmony, stressing that such matters should be addressed through legal and constitutional channels rather than confrontation.

The tribal leader said Ghazi Ajab Khan Afridi held an important place in tribal history and that alleged derogatory remarks concerning him could hurt the sentiments of the wider Afridi community.

He reiterated that his demand was for a transparent investigation, determination of facts and legal action against anyone found to have violated the law.

Malik Saeed Afridi also urged all concerned to maintain peace and mutual respect, saying that the dignity of the Afridi tribe, as well as law and order, should be protected through due legal process.
