Lahore: Irfan Sadiq Tarar on Monday formally assumed charge as the Prosecutor General Punjab and began performing his official duties.
Soon after taking charge, he held meetings with officers of various wings of the department and reviewed its affairs in detail.
Speaking on the occasion, Tarar said upholding the rule of law, ensuring merit and promoting transparency would remain his top priorities. He expressed his commitment to further strengthening and modernising the prosecution system to make it more efficient and enhance the speedy disposal of cases in courts.
Upon his arrival at the office, senior officers and staff of the department welcomed him and congratulated him on assuming the office.
