Kazi group of academicians take control of Isra with help of police, administration on SHC order

District

HYDERABAD: The acting Vice Chancellor of Isra University Dr Ahmed Waliullah Kazi took charge of his office here on Monday after the police and the district administration drove out the private guards of the previous VC Dr Nazeer Ashraf Laghari and his successor Dr Qamaruddin Mahar.

Addressing a press conference later in the university the acting VC said the guards were preventing him and the Chancellor Prof Dr Ghulam Qadir Kazi from assuming the charge of their offices in the light of the Sindh High Court’s recent order.

He added that with the help of the local authorities and in compliance with the SHC’s order the control of the university had been taken from Dr Laghari’s group who was fighting several legal cases against the Kazi family over administrative control of the varsity.

Dr Kazi alleged that during his 3-year tenure as the VC, Dr Laghari destroyed the institution and its hospital and that he failed to address the problems of the staff.

The VC assured that they would take all necessary measures to revive the institution and to address the employees’ problems on priority. He was accompanied by former Chancellor Prof Dr Hameedullah Kazi and others at the press conference.
