Karachi: The Karachi Hockey Association (KHA) celebrated Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour at the Olympian Hanif Khan and Dr Junaid Ali Shah Hockey Stadium in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Monday.
The ceremony began with a cake-cutting ceremony, followed by an exhibition women’s hockey match between the KHA White Team and KHA Colour Team, which ended in a 1-1 draw, said a news release.
Aisha Nadeem scored for KHA White, while Maheen Ali found the net for KHA Colour. The match was officiated by Kashmala Batool and Rizean Khan.
Olympian Hanif Khan attended the ceremony as the chief guest and appreciated the KHA for organising the event. He urged the players to continue working hard to promote hockey and bring pride to the country. The ceremony concluded with a special prayer for the progress, prosperity and peace of the country.
