Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department has taken strict action against negligence and mismanagement at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) Lakki Marwat, suspending 61 employees and initiating disciplinary proceedings.
According to an official notification, Medical Superintendent Dr. Akbar Zaman, Dr. Muhammad Ismail, and Dr. Waqas Ahmed have been removed from their positions and instructed to report to the DG Health Office.
Dr. Umar Hayat has been appointed as the new Deputy Medical Superintendent, while Dr. Jan Bahadur has been given additional charge as DMS.
During the action, the 61 staff members found absent from duty were suspended, and proceedings under EandD Rules 2011 have been initiated against them.
Additionally, show-cause notices were issued to responsible personnel after expired medicines were discovered in the hospital store.
The Health Department emphasized that negligence and lapses in public hospitals will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
This comes after a recent surprise visit by the DG Health Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the hospital, during which he expressed strong displeasure over the lack of medicines and inadequate facilities.
