Peshawar: Right to Information (RTI) Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reduced the backlog of pending complaints by hearing more than 600 RTI complaints during the past six weeks.
In result of these hearings, more than 300 cases were disposed of, as various public bodies provided citizen-requested information under the KP RTI Act.
Among the prominent public bodies that provided information were the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Public Service Commission, Culture and Tourism Authority, Directorate of Emergency Services (Rescue 1122), Minerals Development Department, Lady Reading Hospital Peshawr, University of Peshawar, Khyber Medical University, Islamia College University Peshawar, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Bacha Khan Medical Complex Swabi, and several other government institutions across the province.
The requested information covered a wide range of public interest matters, including bills introduced by Women Members of the Provincial Assembly, seniority lists of Assistant Secretaries, academic credentials of lecturers recruited under a 2021 advertisement, details of vehicles, fuel expenditure, salary and allowance details, domicile certificates of employees, inquiry reports, purchase orders, and details of students selected under open merit and quota systems.
In various other cases the Commission also directed several public bodies to provide the requested information within 10 days.
