Karachi: The University of Karachi and the Town Municipal Corporation, Nazimabad Town, Karachi, signed a memorandum of understanding at the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat on Thursday.
According to the MoU, the Nazimabad Town Municipal Corporation would adopt, repair, and maintain one of the point buses and, after repairing and reconditioning of the bus donated by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, it would be returned to the KU so that the operational point can be included back in the transport fleet of the University of Karachi.
The KU VC Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi and the Nazimabad Town Chairman Syed Muhammad Muzaffar signed the MoU documents. On this occasion, the registrar, deans, director of the evening, members of the Syndicate, representative of the Karachi University Teachers Society, faculty members, staff of the transport unit, director and staff of the Office of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization, town representatives and others were present.
Earlier, seven different towns had already signed MoUs and adopted one point bus each to repair and make them able to come on the roads again. These buses would run on different routes of the towns that are being repaired.
