Lahore: In line with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s ‘Healthy Punjab’ vision and comprehensive health reform agenda, Lahore General Hospital (LGH) on Wednesday officially announced its transformative roadmap titled ‘Mission 2026.’ The initiative aims to set new standards in public healthcare by combining modern medical technology with compassion-driven service.
Launching the mission, Principal of Amir-ud-Din Medical College (AMC) Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal issued a comprehensive charter, ‘Ahad-e-Insaniyat,’ for all healthcare professionals. The mission will operate under the guiding slogan: ‘Knowledge, Service, and Compassion: Protecting Every Life, Our Top Priority.’
Prof. Farooq Afzal announced that 2026 will be a historic year for AMC with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art campus. He said the new campus would not merely be an infrastructure project but a commitment to the future of medical education, offering students a world-class environment for research, innovation, and advanced clinical training.
Highlighting patient care reforms, he stated that the Triage Area of the Accident and Emergency Department would be upgraded to international standards to ensure swift patient categorization and priority-based life-saving treatment. Emphasizing the ethical responsibilities of medical professionals, he termed healthcare a ‘sacred duty’ and urged staff to treat every patient with dignity, respect, and empathy.
Under ‘Mission 2026,’ the Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI), AMC, the Nursing College, and the Allied Health Sciences School will be integrated into a unified center of excellence for clinical services, medical education, and research. Prof. Farooq noted that these institutions already play a pivotal role in producing highly skilled medical professionals serving both Pakistan and international healthcare systems.
Medical Superintendent LGH Prof. Faryad Hussain reaffirmed the hospital administration’s full commitment to the initiative, stating that the entire team is working cohesively to translate the ‘Healthy Punjab’ vision into reality. He pledged that no effort would be spared in providing the best possible medical facilities to patients.
The ‘Mission 2026’ roadmap is expected to serve as a model for public sector hospitals across Punjab, redefining healthcare delivery through innovation, efficiency, and selfless service.
