Islamabad: A half-day event marking the conclusion of the Life Skills-Based Education (LSBE) Pilot Roll-out was held on Monday, at the Islamabad Model College for Girls NIH Colony in Islamabad.
The event brought together over 300 participants, including teachers, students, parents, educationist, and key stake-holders, to celebrate the success of the LSBE pilot program implemented in 100 FDE Schools.
The event showcased the Ministry of Federal Education’s pilot program conducted in partnership and with support of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Aiming Change for Tomorrow (ACT International).
It highlighted the best practices initiated following the programme and emphasized on the critical role of life skills-based education in empowering young people to navigate challenges, make informed decisions and contribute to sustainable national development. Teachers provided their reflections on the content of the programme and its impact on the students.

uth to thrive in today’s world.Through the LSBE program, we have laid the foundation for students to develop emotional intelligence, self-confidence, and respect for diversity, which are key to achieving Pakistan’s educational and social development goals.” Stated by Ms Farah Naz Akbar, Parliamentary Secretary, MoFE and PT.
She also added that, the pilot rollout, which spanned three months, provided targeted life skills education to Grade 4 and Grade 8 students, fostering personal development, gender equality, and critical thinking.
The event served as an opportunity to present key outcomes of the program, including improved student engagement, enhanced teacher effectiveness, and increased awareness among parents about the importance of life skills in education.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Latika Maskey Pradhan, Deputy Representative, UNFPA said, ‘Adolescence is a time of rapid physical, emotional, and psychological changes. The knowledge and skills acquired during this time will influence not only how t
hese young people navigate the challenges of today, but also how they will thrive as adults.”
One of the key areas where LSBE has a transformative impact is in equipping adolescents with critical thinking and decision making abilities that eventually assist them in making the most important decisions of their lives including decisions relating to their reproductive health.
The event culminated with the acknowledgment of the dedication and hard work of 100 teachers who successfully delivered LSBE lessons as planned.
The key findings from the pilot program underscored the transformative impact of life skills education on students’ self-confidence, communication skills, and understanding of social issues.
The participants expressed their gratitude for the platform provided to showcase their efforts and highlighted the event’s role in inspiring further collaboration among education stake-holders.

skills-based education and creating a brighter future for all students in Pakistan.
