Islamabad: Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar on Thursday said a Management Oversight Committee had been constituted to effectively monitor the administrative affairs and performance of government hospitals.
He said that this committee had been formed on the directives of Prime Minister to monitor government hospitals including Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
Talking to the media, the federal minister said the committee had been formed following the tragic deaths of newborns at PIMS to improve the administrative and medical management of public-sector hospitals and ensure the provision of quality healthcare services to patients.
Major General (retd) Dr Azhar Mahmood Kayani, Health Adviser to the Chief Minister Punjab, has been appointed as head of the committee.
The committee will review patient care, safety measures, administrative systems and overall performance of government hospitals and formulate recommendations for necessary reforms and improvements.
The committee will also assess the administrative structure and management system at PIMS and submit recommendations to the prime minister for strengthening its institutional management and service delivery.
Azam Nazeer Tarar said the government was committed to improving the functioning of public-sector hospitals and ensuring that patients received safe, efficient and quality healthcare services.
He said the initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen hospital management, improve accountability and enhance patient safety.
