Minister inspects dredging in Budhni nullah, Hazar Khawani canal


Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Irrigation, Riaz Khan on Tuesday visited Budhni Nullah, Safia Homes and sections of Hazara Khwani Branch Canal to inspect ongoing dredging and desilting operations being carried out by irrigation department.



Member of the National Assembly Asif Khan, former Deputy Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Mahmood Jan, Chief Engineer, SDO, Executive Engineer (XEN) and other relevant officials accompanied the minister during the visit.



On the occasion, provincial minister was given a briefing on physical and financial progress of the ongoing dredging activities at various locations. The officials informed the minister about current status of the projects, deployment of machinery, available resources and the measures being taken to ensure completion within the stipulated time-frame.



The minister directed concerned authorities to ensure the timely completion of cleaning and dredging operations in all nullahs and canals in view of the ongoing monsoon season and to ensure uninterrupted flow of water.



He emphasized that no compromise would be tolerated on pace of the dredging work and directed irrigation department to ensure that all projects are executed in accordance with prescribed standards.



He urged all officers and staff of the Irrigation department to perform their duties with dedication, professionalism, and a strong sense of responsibility.
