Modernizing Design Wing of CandW Dept crucial need of hour: Khosa

Quetta: Balochistan Minister for Communications and Works (CandW), Mir Saleem Ahmed Khosa on Wednesday said that aligning the Design Wing of the Communications and Works Department with modern-day requirements is a crucial need of the hour.



He remarked that the provision of modern machinery, equipment, and technical staff would not only significantly enhance the department’s performance but also accelerate and improve the efficiency of the process for preparing and completing development projects.



He expressed these views during a briefing provided by the Design Wing of the Communications and Works Department.



Secretary of Communications and Works Babar Khan, Chief Engineer (Design Wing) Jamal Ahmed Bugti, Chief Engineer (Federal Projects) Dr. Sajjad Baloch, and other relevant officials were also present on the occasion.



While delivering the briefing, Secretary Babar Khan presented details regarding the Design Wing’s current performance, the availability of technical staff, the acquisition of modern machinery, and other administrative matters.



He explained that further modern equipment and trained technical staff are required to modernize the Design Wing. In this regard, the process of recruiting technical staff on an ad-hoc basis has already commenced, once completed, this would substantially boost the wing’s capacity and lead to further improvements in the planning and design processes.



The Minister Mir Saleem Ahmed Khoso stated that the government would take all possible measures to enhance the capacity of the Design Wing and ensure the provision of the necessary machinery, modern equipment, and manpower.



He added that with the increase in technical staff and the availability of modern facilities, the Design Wing would be able to deliver services in a faster.



He further stated that strengthening the design wing would reduce the department’s reliance on private consultancy firms, thereby enabling savings in public resources and an increase in revenue.



He expressed the resolve that all available resources would be utilized to transform the Communications and Works Department into a functional and self-reliant entity aligned with modern requirements.
