Sialkot: Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources Punjab Muhammad Munshaullah Butt visited District Jail Sialkot on Friday in connection with Independence Day celebrations. He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Sialkot Awais Mushtaq, District Police Officer (DPO) Sialkot Captain (Retd.) Dost Muhammad, Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Chaudhry Faisal Ikram and Khawaja Tipu Sultan.
During the visit, the provincial minister met prisoners and distributed sweets and gifts among them to share the joy of Independence Day. He also conveyed his best wishes to the inmates. Jail authorities briefed the minister on the facilities and arrangements being provided to prisoners.
Speaking on the occasion, Muhammad Munshaullah Butt said Pakistan’s independence was a great blessing from Allah Almighty and urged citizens to play their role in promoting the country’s development, peace and prosperity. He said ensuring that people from all segments of society participate in Independence Day celebrations was among the government’s priorities.
Later, the minister attended flag-hoisting ceremonies at Social Security Hospital Sialkot and his liaison office, where he also cut Independence Day cakes. He congratulated hospital officers, doctors, paramedical staff and other employees and appreciated their services.
He also participated in an Independence Day ceremony at his camp office, attended by political workers and other personalities. Special prayers were offered for Pakistan’s security, stability, progress and prosperity.
On this occasion, Provincial Minister Manshaullah Butt said that Pakistan is the fruit of the eternal struggle and sacrifices of our elders. It is the common responsibility of all of us to highlight the value and dignity of freedom and to enlighten the new generation about the objectives of the establishment of Pakistan.
He said Independence Day conveyed the message of unity, discipline, hard work and national solidarity. The minister added that the entire nation stood shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces and remained united for the defence of the country.
