No compromise on quality, pace of public projects: KP minister

Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Communications and Works Shakeel Ahmad on Friday directed officials to accelerate work on ongoing development projects in PK-3 Barswat and ensure their completion within the stipulated timeframe.

He issued the directives while chairing a meeting in Peshawar to review ongoing and approved development schemes in the constituency.

Parliamentary Secretary for Communications and Works Mian Sharafat Ali, Managing Director Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority Sohail Ahmad Khan, Chief Engineer North Asad Khan and other relevant officials attended the meeting.

Shakeel Ahmad stressed that timely completion must go hand in hand with strict adherence to construction standards and specifications, warning that negligence in maintaining quality would not be tolerated.

He directed officials to regularly monitor the projects and ensure full compliance with departmental rules and prescribed construction standards.

He said development schemes should not remain limited to paperwork but must deliver tangible benefits to the public.

The minister said the government considered public service its top priority and that funds collected from taxpayers and allocated from the public exchequer would be spent transparently and effectively on public welfare and development.

Parliamentary Secretary Mian Sharafat Ali said all available resources were being utilised to provide basic facilities to the people of PK-3 Barswat and promote sustainable development in the area.

He urged officials to avoid unnecessary delays and take practical measures to address public grievances.

Shakeel Ahmad reiterated that the government would not compromise on the quality of development projects and that every rupee of public money would be utilised properly.

He said quality development schemes would contribute to regional development, improve public convenience and strengthen public confidence in the government.

The meeting reviewed progress on various public projects and took several decisions aimed at ensuring their timely completion.
