Bajaur: A police constable was martyred when unidentified armed assailants opened fire on him at Inayat Kalay Bazaar in Bajaur district, police said on Friday. The deceased was identified as Rahmatullah, a resident of Lagharai area of Mamund tehsil.
According to police, he was on his way home while on leave when armed men targeted him at the bazaar, killing him on the spot. The body of the martyred constable was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Khar for post-mortem examination.
Following the incident, police cordoned off the area and launched a search for the attackers, while evidence was being collected from the crime scene. Police said investigations were under way to determine the motive behind the attack and identify those involved.
