Lahore: No loss of life was reported in a fire and smoke incident at Sahiwal Teaching Hospital, where all infants in the nursery were safely evacuated immediately.
According to a preliminary report released by the Punjab Health Department on Friday, the incident occurred at 11: 45 a.m. in the nursery (paediatric ward) of the hospital due to a minor fire in the power cord of a cardiac monitor.
The department’s spokesperson said the burning wire caused a small amount of smoke to spread inside the nursery, prompting the immediate evacuation of all infants to ensure their safety.
The spokesperson added that an investigation into all aspects of the incident was underway.
