Hyderabad District Boy Scouts Association Shaheed Benazirabad, in collaboration with District Administration, organized a one-day training programme for school teachers on earthquake, flood and fire safety, as well as emergency preparedness and response at the school level.
The initiative was taken on the directives of Deputy Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad Abdul Samad Nizamani. The
programme was held at District Boy Scouts Headquarters, H.M. Khoja Garden, Nawabshah.
DC Nizamani attended the training programme as chief guest. Representatives of Health Department, Civil Defence, PPHI, Sindh Integrated Emergency Health Services (SIEHS), District Boy Scouts and Rescue 1122 also participated the programme and provided practical training to school teachers on safety measures during natural disasters and emergencies, first aid, fire prevention, safe evacuation and protection of students.
On the occasion, experts briefed teachers on safely evacuating students to secure locations during emergencies, providing first aid and taking immediate and effective measures in different emergency situations. Emphasis was also laid on ensuring the availability of essential safety equipment and emergency resources in schools, Addressing the training programme, DC Abdul Samad Nizamani, District Education Officer Secondary Humaira Mir, District Education Officer Primary Muhammad Saleem Bhatti, In-charge Mir Muhammad Sial and others said that the objective of training programme was to enhance the capacity of school teachers and prepare them to ensure the safety of students and respond effectively during earthquakes, floods, fires and other emergency situations.
They said that school safety training plays an important role in familiarizing teachers with their safety responsibilities, fire safety measures and emergency evacuation procedures. DC further said that the relevant departments were ensuring the availability of necessary training, equipment and resources in schools to deal with emergencies effectively and enable a prompt response to any emergency situation.
The training programme was attended by Regional Director Private Schools Shahnaz Lakho, Deputy Director Poultry Dr. Tariq Noorani, In-charge Rescue 1122 Zeeshan Zardari, Additional District Health Officer Dr. Riaz Shah, District Scouts Secretary Shaheed Benazirabad Muhammad Asghar Arain, as well as principals, headmasters and a large number of teachers from various schools.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner also administered the oath of office to Umar Hayat Sooni as President of District Boy Scouts Association Shaheed Benazirabad. Later Deputy Commissioner also distributed certificates among teachers who participated in the training programme.
