Lahore: Over 90, 500 minority citizens have benefited from Meesaq Centres across Punjab during the current year, with issues of over 23, 200 citizens resolved and more than 63, 600 provided Police Khidmat Markaz-related services.
According to the spokesperson, in Lahore, more than 24, 500 minority citizens had benefited from Meesaq Centres during the year. Their intervention had resulted in the resolution of issues of more than 8, 000 citizens, while over 12, 000 minority citizens had received Police Khidmat Markaz-related services.
On the occasion of National Minorities Day, Inspector General of Police Abdul Kareem said Meesaq Centres were playing an important role in providing police-related services to minority communities, resolving their issues on a priority basis and promoting interfaith harmony.
He said Punjab Police was committed to protecting the lives, property and rights of minority citizens and ensuring that they received police services without discrimination.
The IGP said the contributions and sacrifices of minority communities in the creation and development of Pakistan were highly valued. He also appreciated the services of officers and personnel belonging to minority communities who were performing their duties in Punjab Police.
Abdul Kareem said Meesaq Centres had been established specifically to facilitate minority citizens and provide them with accessible police services. He said the centres were also strengthening coordination between police and minority communities and contributing to interfaith harmony.
He added that Christian officers and staff posted at Meesaq Centres were working on a priority basis to facilitate minority citizens in resolving their issues and obtaining police-related services.
The IGP, while extending greetings to Hindu, Christian, Sikh and other minority communities on National Minorities Day, reiterated that Punjab Police would continue working to protect their rights and ensure their safety, security and access to public services.
