DPM for swift completion of textile parks, enhancing investments

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Monday directed the departments concerned to expeditiously complete the textile parks in Pakistan and strive to enhance investment in the export-oriented industries.

The deputy prime minister, chairing a meeting of the Working Group on the Establishment of Textile Parks in Pakistan, also emphasized the importance of investment in Pakistan's textile sector.

The meeting was attended by the federal minister for investment, provincial ministers, federal secretaries of foreign affairs, industries, Board of Investment, and Special Investment Facilitation Council and senior government officials.

3 outlaws held; drugs, illegal arms recovered during search operation conducted in Tank

Tank: The Tank police on Monday apprehended three outlaws recovering drugs and illegal arms from their possession during search operation conducted the limits of City police station.

According to police spokesman, the district police led by District Police Officer (DPO) Aslam Nawaz Khan were utilizing all its available resources for eradication of all types of crime from the society.

As part of such efforts, a team of City police station led by SHO Mudassir Hayyat Khan under the supervision of SDPO City Circle Basharat Khan conducted a successful search operation in City area.

During the operation, the police checked 18 houses and arrested three accused namely Muhammad Mushtaq son of Qutub Din, Khanzada son of Sahib Khan and Shah Behraam son of Allah Wasaya.

The police also recovered two 30-bore pistols along with 10 cartridges, 3680 grams of hashish and 26 grams of Ice drug from them.

The police registered separate cases against the arrested accused and launched further investigations.

ATC indicts Shah Mehmood Qureshi, others in Askari Tower attack case

Lahore: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Monday indicted several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, and workers in a case related to the attack on Askari Tower during the May 9 violence.

ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill presided over the proceedings at Kot Lakhpat Jail, where incarcerated PTI leaders, including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed, Senator Ijaz Chaudhry, and Omar Sarfraz Cheema, were presented. Accused individuals on bail, such as Khadija Shah, Sanam Javed, Aaliya Hamza, Rubina Jamil, and others, also appeared in court.

During the proceedings, the court formally charged the PTI leaders and workers in the case.

All the accused denied the charges and expressed their intention to contest them.

Following this, the court summoned prosecution witnesses to present their testimony at the next hearing, scheduled for January 23.

The Gulberg police had registered a case against PTI leaders and workers for their alleged involvement in the attack on Askari Tower during the May 9 riots.
