Sarfraz Bugti pays tribute to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto on 97th birth anniversary

Quetta: The Balochistan Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto provided strong foundations for democracy in Pakistan as Bhutto's vision continues to guide us even today.

In his message on the occasion of the 97th birth anniversary of the founder of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, said that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was a leader in Pakistan's history who always made the welfare of the people his top priority.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti pays tribute to the public services of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and added that under his leadership, Pakistan received its first consensus-based constitution, and the people were made aware of their rights.

The Chief Minister added that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto not only won the hearts of the people of Pakistan but also had a special love and attachment to the people of Balochistan.

He made the restoration of Balochistan's rights and the development of its projects a priority of his government, which marked the beginning of a new era of development in the province.

Mir Sarfraz Bugti added, "Bhutto Shaheed gave political awareness to the marginalized communities. He played an exemplary role in promoting national unity and sovereignty."

Mir Sarfraz Bugti further said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto showed a keen interest in providing employment, education, and healthcare opportunities for the people of Balochistan. His vision and love for the people instilled confidence and a desire for progress among the people of Balochistan.

The Chief Minister emphasized that we need to adopt Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's people-centric policies and vision to put the country, especially Balochistan, on the path to prosperity.

Sarfraz Bugti said that Bhutto's spirit of public service will always remain an inspiration for us. The Chief Minister described the services of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto as a golden chapter in the country's history and said that his sacrifices will always be remembered.

LESCO UDCs complete six-week IT course

Lahore: A six-week IT course for UDCs (Upper Division Clerks) of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has been completed at LESCO Regional Training Center.

According to company's spokesman here Sunday, as per instructions of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Engineer Shahid Haider, the center is conducting a series of trainings of LESCO officers and employees on various topics.

He said that during the course, the UDCs were given IT-related lectures and were awarded certificates on successful completion of the course.

He mentioned that LESCO organizes special workshops and training programs for its officers and employees with an objective to enhance their capabilities so that they can serve the institution and customers in the best possible way.

Meanwhile, LESCO's Hujra South Sub-Division conducted operations against electricity thieves and detected dozens of power pilferers stealing electricity by connecting direct wires on LESCO's transmission lines. LESCO's team has disconnected the illegal connections and registered FIRs against the accused, who will also be charged detection units bills.

Uplift projects being completed expeditiously: MPA


Sialkot: Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Muhammad Manshaullah Butt has said that ongoing development projects in the city are being completed expeditiously in public interest.



He directed officials of Public Health, District Council, Highways Department and Municipal Corporation to ensure the completion of ongoing development projects within the stipulated time and also ensure quality.



He expressed these views at a meeting of officers at his constituency PP-47 Noul Mor, Wazirabad Road.



Local PML-N leader Chaudhry Muhammad Saleem, Chief Officer (CO) Municipal Corporation Malik Ijaz, CO District Council Fida Mir, DSP Mubashir Hussain, former Director Local Government Abdul Hameed Qasim, MO Services Bilal Ahmed, SDO Highway Abdul Wahab Bin Tanveer, SDO Highway Saim Khan, Sub Engineer Hafiz Muhammad Iqbal and Senior Operation Manager Mujahid Maqbool were also present.



Manshaullah Butt directed the CO MCS to remove encroachments in front of shops in collaboration with officials of the Anjuman-e-Tajran and directed the DSP Traffic to keep in mind timings of factories to improve traffic flow.



He said that the traffic police should remove obstacles to traffic in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation.



He also directed Solid Waste Management Company (SWMC), District Council and Municipal Corporation to expedite the process of de-silting of drains and sewer lines.



He directed the local highways authorities to make U-turns wherever necessary in collaboration with the traffic police to resolve the problem of traffic at Harrar Chowk.

ICT Police conducts search operation in Tarnol, Sangjani


Islamabad: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police conducted a grand search and combing operation at the Tarnol and Sangjani police stations jurisdiction, on Sunday.



An official told reporter that under the supervision of SP Sadar zone Khan Zeb, a grand search and combing operation was conducted in different areas of Tarnol and Sangjani police station by ICT Police and lady police teams.



He said during the search operation 632 suspicious persons, 266 houses, shops, hotels, 34 motorbikes and 11 vehicles were thoroughly checked, while five bikes were impounded and 44 suspicious individuals were also shifted to the police station for further verification.



Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Ali Raza said that the search and combing operations were conducted to heighten the security in the federal capital. All zonal officers were directed to continue these operations in their respective areas.

Rain improves Lahore air quality

Lahore: The first rain of the new year, though scattered and light, provided much-needed relief to Lahore's deteriorating air quality on Sunday. The MET Office forecasts similar weather for the next 24 hours.

The rain began in the early hours of Sunday and continued intermittently across various parts of the city until the evening. According to MET officials, a frontal weather system is impacting northern regions of the country and is expected to persist until Monday. They predict cloudy skies with rain and snowfall in Kashmir, Murree, Galliyat, Gilgit-Baltistan, and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Moderate to dense fog is likely in most plains of Punjab and upper Sindh during the early morning and night hours.

Rain was also reported in other cities, while snowfall was recorded in Chitral, Kalam, Drosh, and Malam Jabba. The lowest temperature on Sunday was recorded in Ziarat at -11°C, while Lahore experienced a minimum of 7.3°C and a maximum of 17.5°C.

Following the rain, Lahore's average AQI improved but remained at an unhealthy 169, with PM2.5 levels recorded at 16.4 times higher than WHO guidelines. The most polluted localities included: US Consulate (573 AQI), Ada Plot, Raiwind Road (394 AQI), University of Management and Technology (344 AQI), Johar Town (285 AQI), Askari 10 (272 AQI), Phase 8 DHA (248 AQI), Shahrah-e-Quaid-e-Azam (195 AQI)

House servant killed due to alleged violence in Lahore

Islamabad: A boy working as a house servant in Lahore's Ghalib Market area was killed due to alleged violence.

According to a private news channel and police, the victim, identified as Sunni, worked at the residence of Sajid, a citizen of Main Market.

According to police, the child's body bore signs of violence, including injuries to sensitive areas.

Two suspects have been arrested, and a case has been registered on the statement of the victim's father at the Ghalib Market police station.
