ATC holds jail hearings of two high-profile May-9 cases

Lahore: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday conducted the hearing of two high-profile May-9 cases, including the Askari Tower attack and the torching of Shadman Police Station in the Kot Lakhpat Jail.

ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill conducted the proceedings of the cases in the Jail. However, due to the incomplete attendance of the accused, the court could not proceed with the indictment. Several accused, including Khadija Shah, who are currently on bail, failed to appear.

The court emphasized the importance of full attendance and directed all accused to ensure their presence at the next hearings.

The court adjourned the Shadman Police Station torching case till January 9 and the Askari Tower attack case till January 13.

Detained PTI leaders Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, and others were present in court, and their attendance was recorded.

Tiger Club wins hockey match


Bahawalpur: Tiger Hockey Club Bahawalpur won opening match of Inter-Club Hockey Championship,held here at Dring Stadium on Thursday.



The match was played between Rohi Hockey Club Ahmadpur East and Tiger Hockey Club Bahawalpur. Tiger Hockey Club team dominated the game,scoring nine goals,while preventing Rohi Hockey Club team from making a single goal.



Divisional Sports Officer Bahawalpur, Aamir Hameed along with members of the judges committee including Muhammad Zahid, Irfan Bashir and Secretary, Hockey Association Bahawalpur, Taimor Sameen Khan attended the match. A large number of citizens were present at the stadium to watch the hockey match.



The final of the Inter-Club Hockey Championship will be played at Dring Stadium Bahawalpur on 4th January 2025.

MNA welcomes court decision in bail case of abuse suspect


Islamabad:: Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan, Member of the National Assembly and Convenor of the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights (PCCR), on Thursday welcomed the decision of Lahore High Court justice for denying pre-arrest bail to a abuse suspect.



Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan lauded the ruling as a pivotal moment in creating societal consciousness about the gravity of such heinous crimes.



“Rape is not merely a barbaric violation of an individual’s sanctity but an assault on the collective conscience of society,” stated MNA Dr. Nikhat Shakeel Khan.



She praised Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh for his insightful recognition of this grim reality, emphasizing that his decision not only fortifies the rule of law but also underscores the necessity of safeguarding the vulnerable.

Brother shoots sister dead in Zhob

Quetta: A man shot dead his widow sister inside her house located on Jail Road in Zhob district of Balochistan on Thursday.

According to police sources, the accused managed to escape from the crime scene after killing her sister and started searching for the accused.

The deceased woman was identified as Musarat Aziz. The body of the deceased was shifted to the Civil Hospital for medico legal formalities. The police have registered a case against the accused and his wife.

According to the police, the victim's mother and sister told that the accused had come home with his wife and shot dead the sister.

According to the FIR, the motive behind this gruesome murder was that the accused did not like the sister's use of social media and association with NGOs.

The Musarat Aziz was in-charge of Tawheed Technical Center, established in Zhob city to impart technical skills among the local women for earning decent livelihood.
