Azma says 2024 successful year in Punjab’s history

Lahore: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has declared 2024 as the most successful year in the province's history. She highlighted that Maryam Nawaz launched over 77 public relief projects, with more than 50 already completed. Importantly, all of these initiatives were funded using Punjab's own resources, she added. Bokhari emphasised that Punjab was leading in development, prosperity, and public welfare compared to other provinces of Pakistan. Relief has been extended to every segment of society, including students, farmers, women, and youth, without any discrimination, she said and added that for the first time, relief packages had also been introduced for minorities in Punjab. The Information minister criticised previous leaders, stating that for four years, Punjab's resources were plundered by figures like 'Pinky', 'Googi', and the Captain. She praised Maryam Nawaz for addressing these injustices and improving the lives of people. Today, the standard of living in Punjab was now far s uperior to that of other provinces, contributing to Maryam Nawaz's growing popularity. She confidently expressed that Punjab's development journey would continue on this trajectory over the next five years.

MERC reports 416 fatalities, 31,854 people injured in 23,257 traffic accidents in 2024

Quetta: Medical Emergency Response Center (MERC), reported 416 fatalities and 31,854 people injured in 23,257 traffic accidents that occurred on the highways of Balochistan during 2024. According to data released by Medical Emergency Response Center (MERC), most of the accidents occurred on N-25, N-50 and N-65. From January 1 to December 31, 2024, 23257 accidents occurred on highways in the 26 districts of Balochistan, including Kalat, Killa Saifullah, Pishin, Zhob, Mastung, Lasbela, Khuzdar and other areas of the province. The MERC responded to 23257 road accidents that happened on the main highways of Balochistan in the last year and provided medical treatment to 6267 njured people while shifting the dead bodies to the nearest hospitals. It is to mention that, like rescue teams across the country, MERC teams in Balochistan are being at the forefront of saving lives and serving humanity. Their dedicated service has been praised by the public, who have called on the government to provide necessary benef its and facilities to the MERC teams in recognition of their outstanding performance, aiming to further improve their work in the province.

New year will prove to be a year of development and progress for Karachi: Mayor


Karachi: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said that the new year will prove to be a year of development and progress for Karachi, and the long-standing issues of the citizens will be resolved this year, setting the city on the path of growth.



He expressed these views while addressing a cultural program as the chief guest at Bagh Ibn-e-Qasim, Clifton.



Parliamentary Leader of the City Council Karamullah Waqasi, Deputy Parliamentary Leader Dil Muhammad, and local leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party were also present with him.



At the start of the new year, a spectacular fireworks display was held, delighting the thousands of citizens present at the event.



He said that several development projects in Karachi are in the final stages of completion, while tenders for various projects have already been issued, and work on them will commence by the end of this month.



The Mayor Karachi said that the people want to see Karachi thriving, a city of lights, love, tolerance, music, and joy, where people can enjoy the happiness of life. He emphasized that along with prayers, we must make efforts for the development and construction of our city.



He pointed out that today’s program included people from various ethnic backgrounds, showcasing Karachi as a bouquet of flowers of every color and race, which is the true identity of this city.



The Mayor Karachi stated that, according to Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s vision, Karachi must once again become a haven of peace, a city of lights, and a place promoting brotherhood, equality, and harmony.



He assured the people of Karachi that the trust they have placed in the Pakistan People’s Party will be honored, and they will not be disappointed.



He further said that this year, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will become financially self-sufficient, and the funds for the ongoing development projects are available, ensuring their timely completion.



The Mayor Karachi announced that the first phase of the Malir Expressway will be opened for citizens this month. Similarly, this year, water supply through canals from Hub will begin, significantly improving the water situation in District West and Central. The pace of work on the Kareemabad Underpass has also been accelerated to ensure its timely completion.



On this occasion, the Mayor extended his New Year’s greetings to the thousands of citizens present at the program. Various artists also gave outstanding performances during the event.



Timely completion of ongoing development projects among our top priorities; Mir Saleem Khosa


Quetta: Provincial Minister for Communications and Works (C and W) Mir Saleem Ahmed Khosa on Wednesday said that the timely completion of all ongoing development projects in the province was among our top priorities. He said that the development and prosperity of the province depended on the completion of these projects.



He said this while reviewing the under-construction Hanna Urak Highway project area Quetta.



Chief Engineer Design Faiz Ahmed Mohsin, SE,SDO and the contractor of the relevant project were also present on this occasion.



Giving a briefing regarding the project, Chief Engineer Design Faiz Ahmed Mohsin said that in the flood of 2022, which was completely washed away the highway for the area.



He said that the current government issued orders to construct it on an emergency basis as soon as it came to power saying that due to which the work on the said project is progressing rapidly.



On this occasion, Provincial Minister for Communications and Works Mir Saleem Ahmed Khosa termed the speed and quality of the work satisfactory.



The Minister said that completion of the Hanna Urak Road project would be a useful and efficient highway for landowners of the area and the tourists visiting.



He said that the project should be completed in the same financial year so that the people of the area would not suffer any more.



The Minister said that no compromise or negligence would be tolerated on the standards of the ongoing development project.



He directed that all engineers and officers should work hard and dedicate themselves to completing the ongoing development projects in their respective areas on time.



While giving instructions, he said that the monitoring of the project should be done on a daily basis and its report should be submitted to the higher authorities.
