Sargodha: Two people were killed while five sustained injuries as a speeding dumper hit a tractor trolley near here on Wednesday.
The Rescue 1122 said that Muhammad Riaz and another man were heading to Sargodha on the tractor Trolley when a speeding dumper hit it .
Resultantly, they both died on the spot while riders of the dumper,including Muhammad Abdullah, Muhammad Kashif, Mubashir, Laiqat and Mubarak sustained injuries.

Lahore: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar ensured exemplary initiatives for the police force during the year 2024.
In 2024, more than 5,000 departmental promotions were given across the province based on merit and seniority. Punjab Police Spokesperson shared details that, during 2024, 08 MOUs were signed with educational institutions and hospitals.
An amount of Rs 281.9 million was spent on medical financial assistance for police employees and their families. An amount exceeding Rs. 781 million was disbursed for educational scholarships for the children of police employees.
In 2024, 599 police stations across the province were converted into Special Initiative Police Station Protocols, and the process of constructing 39 Smart Police Stations began in different districts of the province.
Punjab Police spokesperson further said that the approval for establishing 19 new police posts in the Kacha areas of Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur was obtained. Similarly, the construction of 30 border posts in Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Mianwali, and Bhakkar was initiated.
The approval for Hard Area Allowance for personnel performing duties in the Kacha areas was also granted. In the Special Branch Punjab, an Artificial Intelligence Center was established, and a paperless computerized system was implemented.
Additionally, the establishment of a district office for the Special Branch in Murree was completed. The construction of a hostel for female personnel in the Qurban Lines was initiated. The approval for 30 plots from the Punjab Government for shifting rental police stations into personal buildings was also obtained. Over 2.6 million citizens were provided services at police service centers across the province. Over 19 million driving licenses were issued to citizens at Driving License Centers. More than 85,000 minority citizens were provided services at Meesaq Centers.
Over Rs. 2320 million was spent on the welfare of police officers and employees, and more than Rs. 2460 million was approved as financial assistance grants for officers and personnel who died during service. Additionally, 170 plots and Rs. 36.0 million were provided to the families of martyrs for the construction of houses. Over Rs. 80 million was spent on the medical treatment of 241 injured personnel during duty.
Islamabad: During a meeting with Dr Rana Imran Sikandar, Executive Director of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), he commended the government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, for prioritizing healthcare reforms.
He said that efforts are underway to address public healthcare challenges and to plan large-scale developmental projects for various departments of PIMS.
Dr. Sikandar provided a comprehensive briefing on the hospital’s performance, challenges, and the state of medical facilities.
The Deputy Chairman praised PIMS as a vital healthcare institution serving patients from across Pakistan but acknowledged the immense pressure it faces as a primary healthcare provider.
‘The provision of medical facilities is becoming increasingly challenging due to the rising number of patients,’ Syedaal Khan added. He expressed concerns over the frequent breakdown of hospital equipment, which often forces patients to seek diagnostic tests from external facilities.
To address these issues, he underscored the urgency of procuring new machinery through adequate funding. He also called for significant improvements in the hospital’s infrastructure, particularly the wards, and urged both administrative staff and medical professionals to take collective responsibility for enhancing patient care.
Highlighting inefficiencies in the hospital system, Syedaal Khan pointed to the long queues patients endure for blood sample collection.
‘This system needs to be reformed to save patients’ valuable time,’ he stated, stressing the importance of streamlining operations for better service delivery.

Lahore: Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Khawaja Imran Nazir announced the introduction of a new health model under a public-private partnership during a meeting regarding the Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics (MNHC) on Wednesday. The minister stated that the MNHC programme would be launched in its first phase following the complete revamping of 150 Basic Health Units (BHUs). He emphasized that the health department would ensure rigorous monitoring of all medical facilities at these clinics to maintain high standards of care. Highlighting the program’s goals, Khawaja Imran Nazir said that the initiative aimed to financially empower doctors, reduce government intervention, and provide superior medical facilities to the public. Under the MNHC programme, doctors would operate independently, offering better healthcare services to patients.
The clinics would be equipped with advanced medical facilities, including treatment for TB and Hepatitis, immunization under the EPI program, and portable X-ray machines, provided by the health department.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Project Director IRMNCH Dr Khalil, Additional Secretary Vertical Programs Dr. Jehanzaib Hussain, and Deputy Secretary Technical Dr Ahsan Riaz, who also contributed to discussions on ensuring the program’s success.
