PDMA says low-level flooding reported at some places in Punjab


Lahore: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab said on Sunday the water flow in major rivers of the province was generally normal; however, low-level flooding is being recorded at some places.



According to the spokesperson of the PDMA, the water flow in the Chenab, Jhelum, Ravi and Sutlej rivers is normal, while the water flow in the rivers of Dera Ghazi Khan is also normal.



According to the spokesperson, there is low-level flooding at the places of Tarbela, Kala Bagh, Taunsa and Chashma. Similarly, Nala Basantar, Nala Ekk and Nala Baen in Narowal have also been flooded, while low-level flooding has also been reported in Shakargarh.



According to PDMA, Tarbela Dam is 100 per cent, while Mangla Dam is 68 per cent full. Authorities are continuously monitoring the situation of rivers and water bodies.



DG PDMA Saif Anwar Jappa has directed citizens to take precautionary measures in view of the weather and possible flood situation.



He appealed to citizens to avoid sightseeing and entertainment near rivers, canals and streams and follow the instructions of relevant institutions in case of rain or flood.



According to PDMA, the situation is being continuously monitored and relevant institutions have been instructed to remain alert to deal with any emergency.
