Wah cantt: An additional sessions court on Saturday ordered the recovery of a Peshawar woman allegedly kept in unlawful confinement after being brought to Wah Cantonment on the pretext of securing her employment, and directed that she be sent back to Peshawar with her daughter.
Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Azam passed the order on a petition filed by Shahla Bibi, daughter of Shabana Bibi, seeking her mother’s recovery. According to the petition, Shabana was allegedly brought from Peshawar to Officers Colony, Wah Cantonment, by two persons on the pretext of arranging a well-paid job for her.
The petitioner alleged that her mother was subsequently handed over to a man from Bajar village and that a purportedly forged nikahnama (marriage contract) was prepared. After hearing the petition, the judge directed the SHO of Wah Cantonment Police Station to recover the woman and produce her before the court.
Police subsequently recovered Shabana and produced her before the court in compliance with the order. During the proceedings, counsel for the petitioner requested that the woman be allowed to return to Peshawar with her daughter. After hearing the submissions, the court ordered that Shabana be sent to Peshawar along with her daughter.
