Lahore: The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Human Resource (HR) Wing, in collaboration with the Arfa Software Technology Park (ASTP) and Fatimid Foundation, on Wednesday organised a two-day blood donation drive at Arfa Software Technology Park to support children suffering from thalassemia.
The initiative aimed to encourage voluntary blood donation and raise awareness about the importance of regular blood donations for thalassemia patients. PITB employees and participants from organizations based at ASTP actively took part in the drive, with a large number of people generously donating blood and demonstrating a strong commitment to social responsibility and humanitarian service.
Children suffering from thalassemia require regular blood transfusions throughout their lives. Such initiatives play an important role in supporting the availability of blood for patients who depend on regular transfusions. Organisers highlighted that one bag of donated blood can potentially help save up to three lives, making blood donation a meaningful and life-saving act of service.
In this regard, PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf appreciated the participation of employees and other donors and emphasized the importance of collective efforts in supporting children suffering from thalassemia. He stated, ‘Blood donation is a noble act of service to humanity. Every donation can make a meaningful difference in the lives of children suffering from Thalassemia who require regular blood transfusions. Such initiatives reflect our collective responsibility towards society and promote a spirit of compassion, care and civic responsibility.’
Representatives of Fatimid Foundation also appreciated PITB and ASTP for organising the two-day blood donation drive and acknowledged the valuable contribution of the donors. The campaign concluded with strong participation from employees and other individuals, reaffirming the commitment of all stakeholders to supporting humanitarian causes and encouraging voluntary blood donation.
