Lahore:An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday handed over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Lahore general secretary Awais Younus to the police on a 10-day physical remand in a case involving a clash with the police during the arrest of the PTI founder at Zaman Park.
Earlier, the police produced Awais Younus before ATC Judge Irfan Haider after an identification parade.
The investigating officer submitted that Awais Younus was involved in the case and had been identified during the identification parade held at the jail. He requested the court to grant physical remand of the accused for investigation.
However, the defense counsel opposed the request and sought the discharge of his client from the case.
Subsequently, the court handed over Awais Younus to the police on a 10-day physical remand and ordered his production at the expiration of the remand term on September 14.
The Race Course police had registered a case against Awais Younus and other PTI activists on charges of clashing with the police during
the arrest of the PTI founder at Zaman Park.
