Attock: Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan on Sunday reaffirmed his commitment to public welfare, stating that serving the people remains the core objective of his political life. He was addressing a Chromebook and laptop distribution ceremony held in Jand Tehsil, where students from across Attock district gathered to receive digital learning devices.
The governor said that with the support of TT Global Foundation, 1,000 Chromebooks and laptops had been distributed among students of government schools in all five tehsils of Attock. Terming the initiative a landmark step towards educational advancement, he emphasized that sustainable development is not possible without the promotion of modern and technology-driven education.
Announcing further plans, Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that over the next two years, computers would be provided to all students of grades 9 to 12 in government schools across the district. He said this initiative aims to enable students to meet contemporary challenges and play a productive role in the rapidly evolving digital world.
Highlighting development and welfare projects launched during his tenure, the governor said electric bus services have been introduced in Fateh Jang and Hassan Abdal, a passport office established in Hazro, and water supply schemes completed in remote villages of Fateh Jang, Pindi Gheb and Jand. He added that with the cooperation of OGDCL, an 18-kilometre road from Mari to Jalwal was constructed, while dialysis centres and blood banks were set up in Pindi Gheb and Fateh Jang.
He further announced that a dialysis centre equipped with five modern machines would soon be established at THQ Jand, while a fully facilitated Mother and Child Centre, including the posting of a specialist lady doctor, would be made operational within the next one to one-and-a-half months. The governor also revealed plans to arrange collective weddings for 35 deserving families later this month. The ceremony was attended by TT Global Foundation CEO Rashid Minhas, CEO Education Attock Dr Muhammad Azhar, PPP leaders, district officials, students and a large number of citizens, while Chromebooks and laptops were distributed at the conclusion of the event.
