Lahore: The Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education has taken another significant step towards improving the healthcare system by appointing around 2,000 charge nurses (BS-16) in various teaching hospitals across Punjab on 100 per cent merit.
According to official sources, appointment orders were issued on Thursday following the release of final selection lists by the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC). All newly appointed charge nurses have been directed to assume their duties immediately.
The appointments have been made in 35 teaching hospitals, including General Hospital Lahore, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Lahore, Mayo Hospital Lahore, Services Hospital Lahore, Jinnah Hospital Lahore, Punjab Institute of Cardiology Lahore, Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital Dera Ghazi Khan, Allied Hospital Faisalabad, Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, and Children’s Hospital Multan, among others.
The Punjab government is addressing the shortage of doctors and nursing staff in public sector hospitals on a priority basis. Officials believe that the induction of qualified charge nurses will significantly enhance patient care services and lead to a visible improvement in the overall healthcare delivery system of the province.
