Rawalpindi: The Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) marked its 22nd anniversary with a dignified ceremony in Rawalpindi on Friday, attended by senior police officers and officials.
City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Hamdani attended the event as chief guest. The ceremony was also attended by Regional Officer, Punjab Highway Patrol Rawalpindi, Ghazi Faisal Saleem; District Police Officer (DPO) Chakwal Kashif Zulfiqar; Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations); Senior Superintendent of Police (Investigation); Superintendent of Police (Headquarters); Superintendent of Police, CIA; divisional superintendents of police and other senior officers.
The family of Shaheed Assistant Sub-Inspector Sajjad Haider of the Punjab Highway Patrol was specially invited to the ceremony. The officer had embraced martyrdom while performing official duties in Kasur district.
The City Police Officer met the martyr’s family and paid tribute to the late officer’s professional services and sacrifice. He also distributed certificates of appreciation and cash awards among PHP officers and personnel who demonstrated outstanding performance.
Children of Punjab Highway Patrol personnel, who secured more than 80 per cent marks in academics, were also given gifts in recognition of their achievements.
Praising the professional services of the Punjab Highway Patrol, the CPO said the force had played a vital role in ensuring road safety, discipline and public service. He commended the overall performance, discipline, dedication and sacrifices of PHP officers and personnel, and extended his best wishes for their continued success.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Regional Officer, Punjab Highway Patrol Rawalpindi, presented an honorary shield to the City Police Officer.
