Punjab Police arrest over 109, 000 POs across province this year


Lahore: Punjab Police have intensified their province-wide crackdown against proclaimed offenders (POs), habitual criminals, court absconders and suspects wanted in heinous crimes, arresting more than 109, 000 proclaimed offenders, over 33, 000 court absconders and nearly 12, 000 habitual criminals so far this year.



According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, the arrested proclaimed offenders included 27, 820 Category-A and 81, 391 Category-B criminals. The police also apprehended 33, 337 court absconders, comprising 5, 031 Category-A and 28, 306 Category-B offenders.



The spokesperson said 11, 990 habitual criminals were also arrested during the ongoing campaign, including 4, 213 Category-A and 7, 777 Category-B offenders.



In Lahore alone, police arrested 25, 118 proclaimed offenders, 10, 696 court absconders and 4, 898 habitual criminals during the crackdown.



Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem praised the police teams for their performance in arresting proclaimed offenders and court absconders. He directed field formations to further intensify operations against proclaimed offenders, habitual criminals and court absconders to ensure effective enforcement of the law and maintain public safety across the province.
