Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Police arrested 17 suspects in a series of operations across the district, recovering narcotics, liquor, illegal weapons and kite-flying material, a spokesman said on Wednesday.
In actions against drug trafficking, the police arrested six suspects and recovered a total of nine kilogrammes of charas.
The Wah Saddar Police seized 2.99 kg of charas from two suspects, while the Kallar Syedan, Pirwadhai, Banni and Waris Khan police arrested one suspect each with 1.625 kg, 1.575 kg, 1.45 kg and 1.36 kg of the contraband respectively.
Separately, the Waris Khan Police arrested a liquor supplier and recovered 55 bottles of alcohol. The Banni and Civil Lines police each recovered 20 litres of liquor from separate suspects, while the Wah Cantt and Gujar Khan police arrested one suspect each, seizing 20 and 10 bottles of liquor respectively.
The Westridge and Naseerabad police also arrested two suspects and recovered weapons and ammunition.
Meanwhile, in the ongoing action against kite suppliers, four suspects were taken into custody with 422 kites and four spools of string. The Ganjmandi Police recovered 257 kites and three spools of string from two suspects, the Wah Saddar Police seized 150 kites from one suspect, while the City Police recovered 15 kites and string from another.
