Hyderabad: On the special directives of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Suhail Ahmed Rajput (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz), the Regional Director Ombudsman Hyderabad Syed Muhammad Sajjad Haider paid a surprise visit to the Rural Health Center (RHC) Saharish Nagar, Hyderabad.
The purpose of the visit was to review the medical facilities being provided at the health center, attendance of medical staff, availability of medicines, facilities offered to patients and overall administrative affairs.
According to a handout issued on Wednesday, during the visit, the Regional Director thoroughly examined the attendance register, medicine stock register and other relevant records. Senior Medical Officer/In-charge Dr. Aamna Jabeen briefed him on the overall performance of the health center while accompanying him during the inspection of various sections.
Dr. Aamna Jabeen informed that the RHC was providing basic healthcare facilities to thousands of patients from surrounding areas. She stated that the OPD operates for six hours daily in the morning, during which patients were examined and routine medicines were provided.
She further added that 24-hour normal delivery services were also available at the center, with an average of around 100 normal deliveries conducted monthly.
The RD also visited the EPI center, various OPDs, the laboratory and ultrasound ward. Sonologist Dr. Murk Memon informed that approximately 20 to 25 ultrasound examinations were conducted daily. The Senior Medical Officer stated that the health center offers routine diagnostic tests, including urine pregnancy tests, malaria, dengue and other laboratory investigations.
Syed Muhammad Sajjad Haider also inspected the pharmacy and store, obtaining details regarding the availability of medicines, stock position and record maintenance. The Medical Officer informed that a permanent ambulance facility was available at the health center, while in emergencies, an on-call ambulance service ensured availability within 5 to 10 minutes. He was also informed that the center has uninterrupted electricity through a solar system and provides clean drinking water facilities.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Regional Director emphasized the need to ensure cleanliness at the health center and strict attendance of the staff.
