Rawalpindi: Rescue 1122 Rawalpindi has been put on high alert in view of the forecast of rains in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, with emergency personnel deployed around Nullah Lai and other low-lying areas.
According to Rescue 1122 Media Coordinator Muhammad Usman Gujjar, rescue personnel have been deployed in Katarian, Gawalmandi and other vulnerable areas and will remain on duty throughout the rainy spell.
He urged citizens to exercise extreme caution during the monsoon season. Parents were advised to prevent children from going near Nullah Lai and electricity poles during rain.
Citizens were also advised to drive at reduced speed, move to safer locations before urban flooding, avoid going under weak or dilapidated roofs and refrain from crossing streams and drains.
In view of the risk of heavy rains and cloudbursts, people were advised to avoid visiting tourist destinations during severe weather. In case of any emergency, citizens were urged to immediately contact Rescue 1122 at its helpline 1122.
