Hyderabad: Shaheed Allah Buksh Soomro (SABS) University of Art, Design and Heritage, Jamshoro, has achieved another significant milestone in its sustainability journey, securing the 946th position globally and 47th position in Pakistan in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026.
The latest ranking reflects a consistent upward trajectory of the University over the past two years. SABS University entered the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings for the first time in 2024, securing 1,339th position globally and 76th in Pakistan. In 2025, the University improved to 1,219th globally and 72nd nationally, while in 2026 it advanced further to 946th globally and 47th in Pakistan.
With this progress, SABS University has improved by 393 positions globally and 29 positions nationally in just two years, reflecting its continued institutional efforts toward building a greener, more responsible, inclusive and future-ready university.
The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings 2026 assess universities across key sustainability dimensions, including Setting and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, Education and Research, and Governance and Digitalization. The University’s improved standing demonstrates progress across these areas and highlights its growing institutional focus on sustainability.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Arabella Bhutto appreciated the collective efforts of the University community, saying that for an institution dedicated to Art, Design and Heritages, sustainability represents not only an environmental responsibility but also an opportunity to apply creativity, innovation, design thinking, education and institutional stewardship to contribute to a better and more sustainable future.
She further stated that the University’s improved position in the global ranking reflects the commitment of the SABS community to integrating sustainability into academic, administrative and campus practices. The Vice-Chancellor expressed confidence that SABS University would continue building on this progress through collaborative efforts, innovation and sustainable institutional practices.
