Islamabad: Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf announced financial assistance of Rs500,000 each for the heirs of those who lost their lives in a gas explosion incident in Islamabad’s G-7 sector, while Rs50,000 each will be given to the injured individuals.
The minister made the announcement during his visit to a house affected by the explosion.
He also said that the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony would provide financial support for the dowry of an orphan girl from his special fund.
Terming the gas leakage incident a great tragedy, the federal minister said it had caused deep sorrow and grief.
‘We are all deeply shocked and saddened by this incident. It is a national tragedy, especially for the Christian community, which is an integral part of our society,’ Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said.
He added that all responsible officers of the ministry had accompanied him and assured the affected families that the government stands equally with them in their grief.
Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said that complete details of the incident would be conveyed to the Prime Minister. He further said that the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony would do everything possible to assist the affected people.
The minister noted that the area has a large population and requires reconstruction, for which the government would issue necessary directives. He also expressed heartfelt sorrow that a wedding ceremony had turned into mourning.
He said that awareness campaigns would be launched to prevent such incidents in the future, adding that the tragedy has drawn attention to the importance of safety measures and the deadly consequences of negligence.
Sardar Muhammad Yousaf stated that Pakistan is a united and stable nation, and unity in times of tragedy is its true strength.
He said that the incident affected people belonging to different religions and social backgrounds, highlighting that human suffering knows no boundaries.
