HYDERABAD:Sindh Agriculture University’s (SAU) Sub Campus Umerkot and Social Sector have signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to work on climate change and gender-based violence issues.
An MoU ceremony was held at Sub Campus Umerkot among Dr. Jan Muhammad Marri, Pro Vice Chancellor and Saroop Chand Malhi Deputy Director Social Welfare Department, Ghulam Mustafa Khoso, Executive Director Sami Foundation, Mohammad Bux Kumbhar, Sukaar Welfare Organization, Faculty, Scholars, Social Activists attended the event.
Before the MoU signing, a meeting and dialogue were facilitated to highlight the gaps in the environment, water scarcity and Disaster.
The event aimed at promoting the message of saving the earth, and following environment-friendly practices through joint actions by community notables, faith leaders and elected representatives.
On the occasion, Dr Jan Mohammad Mari, Pro-Vice Chancellor said that they promoted good examples through MoU with SPO, we will work more effectively on climate change and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) issues in Umerkot and nearby districts.
He shared some vivid examples of climate change in which he explained the roots and causes of climate change.
Shewa Ram Suthar Program Manager shared the objective of the event and the purpose of signing a MoU to work on climate change and GBV issues in Umerkot and Sanghar by engaging notables, duty bearers and elected representatives.
Muhammad Bux Kunbhar, Executive Director shared in his speech that, this joint work of SPO and SAU will bring positive results in district Umerkot. Such a network is needed to work together on GBV and climate change issues, he said, adding that facts and figures on issues of gender-based violence, child marriage, and other child issues are more focused to work closely.
