ISLAMABAD:The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday maintained the sentences of former army officers involved in hatching a conspiracy against the government of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto in 1995.
The field court martial had terminated the services of Colonel (retd) Azad Minhas and Colonel (retd) Anayatullah, besides announcing jail terms of two years and four years, respectively.
The top court had reserved the verdict on February 15, after hearing arguments from the respondents.
Justice Munib Akhtar read out the court orders.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) had dismissed the appeals of accused against their conviction by the field marshal court. They challenged the LHC verdict before the SC in 2016.
