Lahore: Secretary Labour and Human Resource Punjab Danish Afzal on Tuesday paid his first visit to the Punjab Social Security Head Office after assuming charge, where he was warmly received by Commissioner Punjab Social Security Zulfiqar Ali Kharl.
During the visit, the Secretary was given a comprehensive briefing on the overall performance of Punjab Social Security, including completed, ongoing, and upcoming projects. He was briefed on major reform initiatives such as the distribution of Maryam Nawaz Rashan Cards, construction of new social security hospitals, revamping of existing healthcare facilities, solarization of hospitals, and other welfare-oriented measures.
The briefing also covered recovery targets related to social security contributions and workers’ welfare, along with the registration process of new institutions under the social security framework.
Vice Commissioner Punjab Social Security Tauqeer Ilyas Cheema and other principal officers were also present on the occasion.
Expressing satisfaction over the institution’s performance, Secretary Labour Danish Afzal said that Punjab Social Security is playing a vital role in protecting workers’ rights and providing welfare services. He directed the officers to further accelerate the distribution of Maryam Nawaz Rashan Cards and ensure that all registered workers receive the facility at the earliest.
The Secretary also instructed that all development and reform projects be completed ahead of schedule, strictly in line with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, and emphasized optimum utilization of available resources to enhance the welfare and well-being of workers across the province.
