Sargodha: Seven members of a family, including five children, sustained severe burn injuries when a fire broke out due to gas leakage in a house at Street No 2, Hathi Chowk in the urban area on Wednesday. According to the Rescue 1122, the incident occurred when gas had accumulated in a room due to a leakage from a stove. The fire erupted instantly when someone attempted to light the stove, engulfing the room and the individuals present inside. The injured were identified as 38-year-old Rana Shahid, his wife 34-year-old Noreen Bibi, and their five children: 13-year-old Aisha Bibi, 12-year-old Arslan, eight-year-old Ayaan, seven-year-old Insha Bibi, and five-year-old Shayan. Rescue 1122 teams shifted the victims to the District Headquarters (Dr Faisal Masood) Teaching Hospital, where hospital sources confirmed that two of the injured were in a critical condition. The fire also caused significant damage to the property, reducing household items to ashes, the sources added.
