Sialkot police arrest suspect, recover Rs7m stolen property in burglary case

Sialkot: Sialkot police have arrested a suspect in a house burglary case and recovered stolen gold jewellery and cash worth around Rs7 million, according to a police release.



The police said the suspect, identified as Asad, son of Barkat Ali, a resident of Chaprari, was traced through a combination of technical resources, human intelligence and information gathered during the investigation.



The case was reported by Ghulam Rasool, a retired government employee and resident of Chaprari, who told Kotli Syed Ameer Police that he and his family had gone to attend a wedding ceremony. During their absence, an unidentified person allegedly broke into their house and stole 13 tolas of gold jewellery and Rs100,000 in cash.



A case was subsequently registered at Kotli Syed Ameer Police Station under Section 380 of the Pakistan Penal Code.



Taking notice of the burglary, DPO Sialkot Captain (retd) Dost Muhammad directed SHO Kotli Syed Ameer Police Station Sub-Inspector Shahzaib to ensure the early arrest of the suspect and recovery of the stolen property.



According to the police, the investigation team collected and analysed available evidence and obtained information from various shops and other sources using the serial numbers of the stolen currency notes. The clues gathered through human intelligence and technical resources eventually led investigators to the suspect.



During interrogation, police recovered the 13 tolas of gold jewellery and Rs100,000 in cash, with the total value of the recovered property estimated at Rs7 million.



After completion of legal formalities, the recovered property was handed over to the complainant. Ghulam Rasool and his family expressed satisfaction over the recovery and thanked Sialkot Police for retrieving their valuables.
