Hyderabad:On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, In-charge/Psychologist Women Complaint Cell and Safe House District Jamshoro Syeda Qurat Shah said in her message that mental health is not just a medical term but another name for human dignity and balance of life.
She said that today we are passing through a very painful era where mental stress, anxiety, inferiority complex and loneliness are hollowing out our society from within like a canker.
This pressure is not limited to women only but our innocent children and our younger generation are also victims of this silent suffering due to academic pressure of domestic discord, economic hardship and negative use of social media, frustration and aversion to education is increasing among the youth, and sadly many precious lives take the extreme step of suicide, tired of this endless agony.
In such darkness, counseling is playing the role of a lamp of hope.
A compassionate conversation and a safe listening can mend a broken heart. The Women Complaint Cell/Safe House is working on the same philosophy where every affected woman is heard in an environment of trust and confidentiality so that she can lighten her inner burden and she is provided a peaceful and dignified environment during her 72-hour stay so that her mind can find peace.
Through special counseling of women suffering from severe mental stress and timely referral to other institutions they are brought back to life and school dropout girls are encouraged and re-connected with education.
She said that this year’s global slogan “Heard Voices of Lived Experiences,” teaches us that listening to someone’s pain is half the cure. Mental illness should not be considered a stigma. Let us pledge that we will listen to every troubled heart around us and will not leave them alone.
