Sindh Governor visits CPKC, says technology can help prevent crime


Karachi: The Governor of Sindh, Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi on Monday visited the Community Policing Karachi (CPKC) at Defence Police Station. The Governor said that effective use of modern technology could play an important role in preventing crime and ensuring the safety of citizens in Karachi. ‘Karachi can be made safer through mutual cooperation between the police and citizens.’ He said, While briefing the Governor, CPK Chief Murad Sohni said that more than 2,000 modern security cameras had been installed across Karachi.

He said that Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology enables authorities to identify the number plates of stolen vehicles within seconds. Sohni said that CPK advanced camera system is directly linked to the police. He further said that 80,000 plants have been planted around the Lyari Expressway as part of the CPK’s Green Initiative.
